What is SEO – Its Types – An Overview

In the world of modern technologies, digital marketing plays a vital role in terms of all aspects of business, and it’s application. SEO is quite a significant term used since we heard for a long time. SEO  stands for Search Engine Optimization.

What is SEO? Let’s relate it to our daily life. Suppose you are hungry, you want to order food, what will you do? You would go to the internet and search “order food online” or “best food near me” etc. Search engines would show you the number of searches based on keyword rankings. You would then click on the top 10 websites and grab your food.  In all these processes, SEO is applied by the professionals on the site, which drives traffic as per the required search query. SEO service providers know how to optimize a website to help improve Google rankings.

Technically we can say SEO is the process of getting clicks on your website in the search result (organic search) by users query through parameters (google guideline).

The same can be known as website URL, meta title, and meta tags, these are commonly known as Meta tags of your website displayed in search results. Meta title and meta description are counted in pixel length. The meta title range is 55- 60 characters, and the meta description range is 155 -160 characters.

Basically there are two types of SEO- On page SEO and Off page SEO. In simple words, On page seo means the optimizations which is done for the site. In other words, work is done on the site is called On page optimization. And similar if the work is done for the site (third party ie backlinks) is called Off page optimization. Let’s see an overview for both the types briefly.

 On Page

Meta Tags  – The meta title and meta description are 2 important things which appears in search engine results for your website. The meta title has a limit of 55-60 character. Similarly meta description has a limit of 155-160 character.

XML Sitemap – It is used for Search engines to let them know how many URLs or pages are there for the website to be indexed.

H1 tags – It is used to represent the overall title of per page. Only 1 H1 tag can be used per page.

Alt Tag –  It is used for image to let search engines know and crawl to index it .

URL Structure – Url should be user friendly of the website.

Canonical Tag – It is important to implement canonical tag for your website pages to ensure uniqueness of content. There is no duplicacy in it.

Content – Web page content is the main source to attract visitors on your website. The content should be unique and relevant and should have keyword interlinking in it.

Off Page

In off page SEO, backlinks plays a crucial role.
